Working as construction project manager in the field
As MSF's construction manager, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating one or more construction and rehabilitation projects to support medical activities. You will be responsible for renovating and constructing healthcare facilities and other buildings used by MSF in its programmes, including accommodation, offices, pharmacies and warehouses.
Responsibilities
- Participate in project evaluation, design and development
- Ensure that construction sites and buildings comply with MSF protocols and standards while respecting local building regulations
- Coordinate orders, verify that the quantities and quality of materials are correct, take inventory of warehouses and anticipate delivery times
- Organise, prepare and monitor budgets related to construction activities (i.e. invoicing, cash flow required for monthly payments)
- Monitor the progress of constructions, contribute to monthly reports and keep all monitoring documents up to date
- Provide safety equipment for those working in construction to ensure the safety of workers
- Manage, train and supervise the construction team through activities such as capacity-building, briefing/debriefing and evaluation of staff
- Provide technical support and coaching to logistics staff
Requirements
- Relevant qualification (e.g. engineering, construction or architecture) - depending on the speciality, levels of responsibility will be adjusted
- At least two years’ relevant professional experience
- Experience of construction work, follow-up and site supervision
- IT skills (Autocad, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Fluency in English and/or French
- Available for a minimum of six months

- International professional experience and/or experience in contexts similar to our areas of intervention
- Fluency in both French and English is an asset
